“It was Thanksgiving in June for the nation’s hungry as employees at University of Phoenix’ 62 campuses, 19 online divisions, 20 corporate departments and four subsidiaries collected enough non-perishable food items and monetary donations to provide more than 68,000 meals.” Click here to read more.

The Food Bank was featured on KPHO CBS 5’s weather report with meteorologist Paul Horton as part of Big Surf’s Waterworld Safari summer ticket giveaway. Through the kindness of an anonymous person, the Food Bank was entered into a drawing to win 50 Waterworld Safari tickets for Food Bank employees. Thank you to KPHO CBS 5 and Big Surf Waterworld Safari for a wonderful summer treat!

August 18: Severe flooding in the Supai Village of the Grand Canyon resulted in the evacuation of hundreds of families this past weekend. The Food Bank was able to help serve the needs of the evacuees by supplying a truckload of items: 204 Emergency Food Boxes, seven pallets of bottled water and energy drinks, 200 emergency blanks, and a pallet of personal hygiene items. September 1: The Food Bank’s summer campaign, Send Hunger Packing, was a success! Thank you to everyone who supported the Food Bank this summer, including our generous sponsors Gila River Casinos, SRP and US Airways.
More than 112,700 pounds of nonperishable food items were collected at 123 food drives around the Valley, and more than $538,300 was collected in monetary donations. This is a huge success for the Food Bank, as every $1 provides 7 meals for needy Arizonans.
Thank you for helping the Food Bank raise awareness that hunger doesn’t take a vacation!
