The Food Plus program provides a monthly food box and nutritional education for individuals at health risk. Currently serving more than 150,000 people, 85 percent of whom are seniors, Food Plus focuses on prevention. For every dollar spent on this program, three dollars is realized in healthcare savings for taxpayers.
To qualify, participants must be pregnant or postpartum women and children up to six years of age, living in a household at 185 percent or less of the Federal Poverty Level. Senior Citizens 60 years of age or older living at 130 percent or less of the Federal Poverty Level may also qualify.
