St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance, the world’s first food bank,
is known worldwide for leadership in addressing the
hunger needs hundreds of thousands of Arizonans each
year. Last year, the Food Bank distributed enough food to
prepare more than 50 million meals to feed the hungry.
But it wasn’t enough. More is needed.
Currently, 857,349 Arizonans live in poverty. They include
parents who must choose between paying rent and buying
food; children sent off to school without breakfast, often
returning home without hope of dinner; and seniors whose
fixed incomes force them to choose between food and
necessary medications.
